Manufacturing Growth and Training in Reading, PA featured on NPR’s Marketplace

Source Scott, Amy. “Manufacturing is alive and well in Reading, Pennsylvania.” Marketplace. National Public Radio, 07 February 2017. Web. 16 February 2017.

Reading, Pennsylvania has had it’s share of ups and downs in the past few decades, including thousands of lost jobs as large companies shuttered their doors, resulting in one of the highest poverty rates in the country. But with true Rust Belt grit, Reading has focused it’s energy on stabilizing the manufacturing sector and encouraging partnerships between employers and local high schools. These partnerships are creating technical training opportunities for students who want to move straight into the workforce from high school and earn a good wage and benefits.

National Public Radio (NPR) recently featured Reading’s manufacturing on their Marketplace Radio show and website.
