MSSC Certified Production Technician Program (CPT)
The MSSC Certified Production Technician Program (CPT) is a nationally portable, industry-recognized certification that focuses on core-competency standards identified by industry subject matter experts. The purpose of the Certified Production Technician (CPT) program is to recognize through certification individuals who demonstrate mastery of the core competencies of manufacturing production at the front-line (entry-level through front-line supervisor) through successful completion of the certification assessments. CPT prepares students for high-performance, technologically-advanced production jobs and is the only certification for production workers that is accredited under ISO Standard 17024.
How does it work?
The CPT program consists of five individual certificate modules: Safety; Quality Practices & Measurement; Manufacturing Processes & Production; Maintenance Awareness and Green Production. Candidates must earn the first four certificates to receive the full CPT certification. (Note: At this time Green is not required for full-CPT certification.)
While there is no requirement to purchase training before taking an assessment, MSSC has also developed five training courses which combine interactive, online training with instructor-led material to help individuals learn the basic skills and knowledge required for manufacturing jobs.
What will students learn?
CPT assesses individuals in five critical work functions:
- Safety (Includes intro to manufacturing and work-readiness skills)
- Quality Practices & Measurement
- Manufacturing Processes & Production
- Maintenance Awareness
- Green Production (optional)
